Barbara Jensen, Porcelain Artist
Barbara Jensen was born and raised in the Detroit, Mich., area. She lives in Birmingham, Mich. with her husband, Barry.
She was educated as an art teacher, earning a teaching degree from Central Michigan University. She taught elementary school art before the birth of her son, Dan, in 1978.
Barbara began china painting in 1973 with lessons through the adult education department evenings at the local high school. She started teaching china painting in 1981 and still teaches weekly classes in her home studio.
Barbara has traveled all over the United States and several foreign countries to teach and give seminars. She has been guest artist at china shows both in the United States and abroad.
Barbara wrote her first book, Good as Gold, in 1989. She followed that with three more books: Gold for all Seasons, Golden Inspirations, and Golden Reflections. She did a video in 2001 on basic raised paste techniques.
She has porcelain in private collections in the United States, Australia, Japan, England, and Canada.
